He is someone for whom fun means business. He is none other than Bollywood’s funny young man Ranvir Shorey!

Well, post his famous VJing stint with Channel (V), films was a natural progression for this man. Add to that his impeccable pairing with Vinay Pathak, made them one of the most wanted ‘on-screen couples’ as far as comedy is concerned.

Ranvir will be live Bollywood Hungama’s Celebrity Chat speaking about his upcoming movie The Film Emotional Atyachar on Monday, September 6, at 1600 hrs IST.

Just sometime back, in fact just in August, it was announced that Kangna Ranaut would be starring in Deepa Mehta’s adaptation of the novel Midnight’s Children by Salman Rushdie. However, time changes a lot and so has the star cast of this film.

The latest is that Kangna has dropped out of the said project. Kangna’s spokesperson said, “Yes Kangna has actually opted out of the film Midnight’s Children which is being made by Deepa Mehta. The reason for this change is Kangna is really busy and her dates are clashing with that of Deepa’s film.”

With Kangna out of the film, Deepa will probably have to go star hunting once again in Bollywood.

In simpler words, actor Ranvir Shorey is all set to wed Konkana Sen Sharma in Mumbai today. A very hush-hush affair; no media has been let on to the news or cover the event. Only close friends and family have been invited and the whole celebration is well, very intimate.

It’s double celebration for Ranvir whose movie The Film Emotional Atyachar also releases today, well let the bubbly pop. Bollywood Hungama wishes the couple all the very best for this new beginning.

Happening for the first time in India, Industry majors are travelling from all over the country to be part of this trade show and talking to the top brass of Fox Star Studios. In fact Sunder Kimatrai who is the Senior Vice President Asia Pacific, Fox Studios, is the key speaker and is specially flying down for this event.

Fox will be showcasing 75 years of their cinematic journey for the first time for those present and give an insight into their proud legacy. The distributors will be introduced to the upcoming films from the Studios. From the line up are films like Unstoppable, Wall Street, Gulliver’s Travels, Danny Boyle’s 127 Hours, X-Men: First Class, Rise of the Apes, Darkest Hour and The Chronicles of Narnia.

This would be followed by showcasing the success story they have made in Bollywood and that includes My Name Is Khan, also announcement of their forthcoming slate for Vipul Shah production’s next untitled movie starring John Abraham directed by Nishikant Kamath; Rohan Sippy’s Dum Maaro Dum and Aatish Kapadia’s Khichdi slated to release on Oct 1.

Vijay Singh of Fox Star Studio explains the reason of this summit as he says, “At Fox Star Studios, we look upon our trade partners as important stakeholders. And the trade show is an important platform to share our key releases across Bollywood and Hollywood over the coming 6 months.”

Preity Zinta may not be in news for her movies since a while now, but the actress is surely pulling eye balls through her regular fascinating twitter updates.

The latest update from actress was about her having dinner with tennis star Serena Willaims. Preity also posted her picture with Serena on twitter. “At Dinner with Serena Williams ! She is absolutely wonderful and full of life. Love her style ” tweeted Preity.

Though away from movies, she sure seems to be making the most of her time.

Mohit paid heavily for his outspokenness. He was banished not only from Ram Gopal Varma’s production house but also from Bollywood.

Last heard he had walked out of Ghajini because he found his role (of the cop) too inconsequential.

Thereafter, Mohit seemed to disappear from the face of earth. His phone number has changed and apparently he has gone back to his family business in Panipat and Delhi.

But now one sees him part of the ensemble cast in debutant director Akshay Shere’s Emotional Aatyachar.

Mohit and Shere go a back a long way, to their days together in Ram Gopal Varma’s production house. Even Shere seems unaware of Mohit’s whereabouts. But he does let out that Mohit was in hospital lately.

“I think it is for some intestine or stomach problem. Too much work-out has taken its toll on him,” informs the director.

Ironically, the bout of ill health has deprived Mohit of the little bit of attention that his new film would have got him.

Even more ironically, director Mohit Shere says Mohit plays, “A businessman who meets some bizarre people.”

Sounds like Mohit’s own story.

Well, we are indeed referring to the sexiest hunk of Bollywood Arjun Rampal, who is currently enjoying a dream run in Bollywood with all his films shining at the BO! The film is already getting positive response and Arjun as always is being highly praised for his performance in the film.

Earlier in the month of May this year, Ajay Devgn earned the wrath of director of health services, Dr Rajnanda Desai, for smoking in a public place in Goa. The actor was shooting then for his forthcoming film Golmaal 3 and was caught puffing away near the Inox cinema hall in Panaji. While the complaint against the actor was filed then by National Organisation for Tobacco Eradication (NOTE), it’s only now that he has been asked to pay a penalty of Rs.200.

Ajay, through his representative, did pay the fine of Rs.200 earlier this week on Wednesday. The fine was levied for smoking in a public place which is in direct violation of section 4 of the Cigarette and Other Tobacco Products Act, 2003 (COTPA).

No wonder, after a decade long association with the banner (Siddharth had worked as an Assistant Director at Yash Raj Films for 5 years before getting his big break with Salaam Namaste), Siddharth wanted to convince himself multiple times before picking on a banner.

“I wanted to work with someone who didn’t carry any greed and wasn’t corrupt when it came to money matters”, says Siddharth who is one of the youngest successful directors around today, “If I had to venture out of the comfort zone of Yash Raj Films, I had to look for that umbrella and cushion that could take care of me. I wanted someone to be as passionate as Adi (Aditya Chopra) when it came to making films and I saw that in Sajid (Nadiadwala).”

Not many know that it was Siddharth himself who approached Sajid to produce the film for him.

“I have closely watched Sajid’s involvement as a producer and what he brings to the table”, says Siddharth, “He doesn’t make films for the heck of it. With the reputation that he has built over the years, he could have been making multiple films every year but he never did that. If you look at his success record, it is phenomenal. He is someone who makes films with a lot of conviction.”

He is quick to add though that it is a mutually beneficial situation for both Siddharth as well as Sajid when it comes to making a film. When questioned if he felt ‘fortunate’ enough to get a backing from Sajid, he says quickly with a smile, “If I would have come with two flops behind me then perhaps yes, I would have felt a lot more fortunate. I am glad though that Sajid realised I was good and hence we could make this film together.”

Nevertheless, coming back to the original topic of venturing out to a new production house for his first film outside Yash Raj Films, has the experience been any different?

“I felt that I was working in my dad’s company”, laughs Siddharth, “Ab isse Hindi mein bolunga to thoda kharaab lagega but the fact is that I had so much of freedom during making of Anjaana Anjaani that I truly felt like being in my home-ground. Anjaana Anjaana is my little baby and it was good of Sajid to assign me the responsibility of making such a big film. I am sure he wouldn’t have done that if he didn’t have faith in me.”

He adds as a final note, “There was no interference from Sajid or anyone else from the production house. Also, the kind of person I am, if there was any interference you would have heard about it. I may not be arrogant as a person but I am very arrogant when it comes to my film.”

Since Siddharth Malhotra’s mentor and role-model Kajol is on maternity leave, the director is looking at casting his best friend Shahid Kapoor in his next film.

Shahid has been Siddharth’s best friend for years. The star watched the debutant director’s film at a special screening on Wednesday.

Says Siddharth, “I was waiting for Shahid to watch it. He has been my best friend for years. He watched it along with Sooraj Barjatya and Raju Hirani. Shahid absolutely loved my film.”

That’s the kind of love and loyalty Siddharth believes in. A self-declared Kajol bhakt he is ready to go to any lengths to be loyal to his muse and guardian angel Kajol.

After keeping a life-long mannat for Kajol agreeing to do his first film, Siddharth has now gone a step further. He has postponed his next film with Kajol in the lead because of the actress’ impending motherhood.

Kajol intends to take at least one full year off before returning to acting. Rather than cast someone else in the role that was written especially for Kajol, Siddharth has now decided to make another film next.

The director’s next would be a father-daughter family-comedy featuring Rishi Kapoor as the father. The daughter is yet to be cast. But the buzz is that Siddharth wants to create cinematic history by casting Rishi’s niece Kareena as his daughter.
Confirming these developments Siddharth Malhotra says, “I did want to make my film with Kajol next. But she won’t be doing any film for a year and a half. So I’m making a family comedy. I’ve completed this other script. Rishi Kapoor plays father to a much younger girl. I’ll make this family comedy before my film with Kadz.”
